The 31001: Basic Fire Alarm Systems and 31002: NFPA Standards course teaches you the basics of the various types of fire alarm systems. It also reviews the electrical requirements, alarm initiating devices, control functions, alarm indicating appliances and the power requirements of a fire alarm system. Basic NFPA standards and terminology are also discussed. This includes the specific definition for the use of words such as "shall" and "should" and the role of the "Authority Having Jurisdiction". It covers terminology that is applicable to the acceptance of materials, components, and devices that may be used on a daily basis in the fire alarm industry. It also relates basic knowledge of testing laboratories that are commonly used in the fire alarm industry.
